The application process

Jobs are advertised in a number of different ways. For example in the local press such as The Belfast Telegraph, on websites such as NIJobs.com, at schools, colleges and universities and in various other publications. For those interested in our apprentice or graduate programmes, or in Electrical Engineering positions, individuals are welcome to send through CVs which we can hold until suitable related vacancies arise.

If you believe that you have the talent, drive and ambition for a career with Viridian, we look forward to hearing from you.

There are normally 5 stages in our selection process:

1 – Criteria

We set criteria which are unique to each job and give the applicant the opportunity to demonstrate how they meet each criteria required for the role. Details on individual job criteria can be obtained from the HR Department.

2 – Prepare your application

If you feel you meet the essential criteria, you can forward a CV to us and/or complete an application and monitoring form and criteria sheets.

3 – Shortlisting

Your application will be considered with all other applications received to ensure that you meet the essential criteria. If there are a large number of applicants it may be necessary to rank applications according to how well they meet the essential criteria. You will then be contacted to advise you of the outcome.

4 – Testing (normally Apprentices only)

IQ, EQ and personality assessments can also be used as part of the selection process. Assessment centres may also form part of the selection process for some positions.

Apprentices attend aptitude tests and practical assessments to form part of the application selection process.

5 – The Interview

If you have been shortlisted for the position, you will then be invited to interview. The interview is your chance to tell us about your achievements, where and how you have demonstrated the qualities we are looking for and how you have overcome challenges that you have faced.

While it’s not possible to give you specifics about what to expect from the NIE interview specifically, it is possible to give you some general advice about the kinds of things to consider if you want to perform well in interviews.

6 – The Decision

Following the interview, you will be contacted by a member of our HR team, to let you know the decision of the application process. No matter what the outcome, you will have done well to get to this stage.
